Duhamel and Radford’s medal winning skate at the Olympics

Canada has made an expected impression in all the categories of figure skating in Pyeongchang. The last two weeks have been overall exciting for the Canadian skating team.

The total count of medals for Canada in ice skating is four: two Gold and two Bronze. This represents a medal in four out of five events. Among this group of super talented skaters, we want to highlight Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford.

This pair of skaters earned the Bronze medal in the pair’s event at the Pyeongchang, South Korea, Winter Olympics. These experienced skaters competed in their final season and have been world champions twice.

Winning the Bronze medal in their category was very exciting for the pair.

"I don't think there've been happier Bronze medalists than we are," said Duhamel.

"It's the sweetest (ending) it could possibly be right now," Radford said. "I don't think that there's any better way."

Duhamel and Radford came third, five points behind the leaders from Germany, Aliona Savchenko and Bruno Massot.

The veteran skaters, Duhamel, 32, and Radford, 33, have said this to be a good time to retire as they hoped for a high note and they achieved what they had aimed for. "We couldn't have asked for more from this competition and from ourselves," Radford added. "I think we're going to be able to retire and always look back on our skating career feeling complete and happy."

Their last execution in their program was filled with emotion. This included a clean program with a beautiful quadruple throw Salchow.  In the end, Radford fell to one knee, fully emotional, after their final pose, which could be the last of their career.
